The Toyota Gaming Engine has created a platform for this year’s FIFA 22 tournament that puts thumbs, the unsung heroes of gaming, on centre stage. Thumbderdome: Battle of the Opposables is a FIFA competition that immerses gamers into a world of thumbs, complete with match thumb commentators – or thumbentators – Sam “Tech Girl” Wright and Glen Biderman-Pam, as well as thumb training content and pro tips from some of SA’s professional FIFA players.
In the tournament, players will have to thumb through their opposition for the Grand Prize of R30 000 cash, with R20 000 and R10 000 going to 2nd and 3rd place, respectively.
How to enter:
The first 256 players to register via The Toyota Gaming Engine will secure a spot in the tournament, running from 12 March to 26 March 2022.
Tournament Structure:
There will be Qualifier Rounds on the 12 March and 19 March. Each Qualifier Round will consist of 128 players who will take on each other in elimination matches, with the Top 16 per Qualifier making it into the next round. The Top 32 players will then duel it out for a spot in the top 16 finals, hosted live in Johannesburg.
