The T6 is JAC Motors’ sixth-generation international pick-up design. It was launched as the best competitive offering in the Chinese market in 2015, with the lowest sticker price, best performance, biggest payload and impressive standard features.
The introduction of the new T6 2.0L VVT petrol double-cab 4×2 Lux derivative results from feedback JAC Motors received from the market since the local launch of the T6 in 2018. The T6’s ultra-wide body makes it more versatile for workhorse applications, and the owners are especially impressed with the T6’s reliability, durability and practicality.
“The market feedback is clear. Customers, especially big transport operators, want petrol engine derivatives in their fleets. With the limited offer of one-tonne petrol engine workhorses in the local market, we have decided to add a petrol engine derivative to our local T6 range,” says Karl-Heinz Göbel, CEO of JAC Motors South Africa.
The sedan-like design of the T6 provides excellent driver comfort and makes it an ideal choice for entrepreneurs who use their bakkies for work and lifestyle purposes. Advanced technology and a high standard specification level ensure a comfortable and relaxing driving experience.
“The T6 is a rugged all-rounder and popular choice with customers who want the best value-for-money double-cab on the market. The new T6 2.0L Petrol is exceptionally well priced at just over R320 000 and offers unique benefits such as fuel efficiency and low maintenance,” says Göbel.
Great performance from the new reliable 2.0L VVT petrol engine
The reliable 1 997cc VVT 4-cylinder petrol engine develops 108 kW @ 6 000 rpm and 190 Nm torque between 3 000 to 4 500 rpm. The Euro V powerplant, which pairs with a 5-speed manual transmission, effortlessly reigns in all the torque available throughout its powerband. The smooth transmission of power to the rear wheels ensures a relaxing and comfortable driving experience, meeting various customer demands, from heavy loads to urban lifestyle driving.
The T6 Petrol’s fuel consumption is excellent because its low torque curve leads to earlier and fewer gear changes. With a fuel consumption figure of 10 L/100 km (combined cycle), the 76-litre tank will give you a range of approx. 800 kilometres.
“We are excited about the local launch of the new T6 2.0L petrol derivative because it has developed an excellent reputation in various markets worldwide where it is sold as a workhorse and a lifestyle double-cab,” adds Göbel.
Versatile workhorse to suit the needs of entrepreneurs and big fleet operators
The T6 features a rugged ladder frame suspension and a double-wishbone independent front suspension with coil springs. This suspension configuration better suppresses body roll with more substantial lateral rigidity, resulting in superior handling performance and passenger comfort.
The 245/65 R17 tyre size of the T6 2.0L Petrol improves loading performance and reduces understeer. Its turning radius of 6.2 metres results in easy urban driving and manoeuvring in tight parking spots. The T6’s ground clearance is 198 mm.
It supports a payload is 900 kg and a maximum Towing Mass (Braked) of 2 000 kg. It offers the biggest cargo space in its class, allowing ample room for cargo and tools. The double-skinned load box measures 1 520 mm × 1 520 mm × 470 mm and is sprayed with an anti-scratch and corrosion-resistant truck bed liner.
“Customers are particularly impressed by the T6’s comfort, durable drivetrain and low maintenance cost. Our new T6 2.0L petrol bakkie offers potential customers a reliable workhorse with excellent gravel-road ability, a comfortable cab and a decent-sized load box at a much lower purchase price than its double-cab competitors,” concludes Göbel.
Comfortable driving experience for all lifestyle requirements
The T6 double-cab boasts a muscular workhorse demeanour coupled with sedan-like comfort. Its large grille, hawk-eye headlight design, straight character lines and wide stance were penned at JAC Motors’ design centre in Italy. Standard features include fog lamps, electrically adjustable mirrors with integrated indicator lights, running boards and a style bar.
It features two airbags, Anti-lock Braking System (ABS), Electronic Brake Force Distribution (EBD) and a Brake Override System (BOS). A reverse camera, rear park distance control and speed-sensing auto door locks are standard equipment for added safety and convenience.
The T6 Petrol’s comfortable cabin is fitted with a new stylish interior, resulting in a relaxing driving experience. Standard fitments include power steering, a height-adjustable leather-trimmed multifunction steering wheel, cruise control, air-conditioning and electric windows.
The T6 features a Radio/MP3 player with Bluetooth, a 12-Volt accessory socket, and a USB port neatly placed in the centre console with a closing lid to ensure that you are connected wherever your work or lifestyle activities take you.
