Suzuki Auto South Africa scooped two honours at the annual South African Vehicle Rental and Leasing Association (SAVRALA) Manufacturer of The Year 2024 (MOTY) Awards.
Now in its 29th year, this coveted award ceremony pays tribute to top-performing vehicle manufacturers operating in South Africa’s rental, leasing and fleet management industries.
At a prestigious gala event held in Johannesburg on 24 October, Suzuki Auto South Africa was announced as the overall most improved OEM in terms of year-on-year performance.
Determined through two rigorous surveys conducted with over 47 of the largest car rental and leasing companies operating in the country (the likes of Avis, Budget, Bidvest, Cabs Car Hire, Europcar, Hertz, Tempest, Woodford and Xtreme Car Rental), Suzuki Auto South Africa was judged on several aspects of its operations including vehicles, pricing, timeous delivery, service turnaround time, theft prevention, residual value as well as parts pricing and supply.
“We are thrilled to receive this award,” said Yashvir Singh, Manager, Auto Fleet Sales, of Suzuki Auto South Africa.
“SAVRALA’s extensive list of members currently operate a combined fleet of around 600,000 vehicles through various rental and leasing channels – nearly a fifth of all new vehicles sold in South Africa every year. The fact that Suzuki Auto South Africa, especially after such a thorough vetting process, was chosen as its most improved OEM is a testament not just to our products, but our people and operations too.”
This notable achievement was made even sweeter by Suzuki Auto South Africa Fleet Aftersales Controller Sarah Burkey being named as MOTY’s best account executive of 2024. According to SAVRALA this award is based on combined votes from 24 rental companies.
“It is a huge honour to have been selected as well as a complete shock,” said Burkey.
“This award isn’t just for me, it’s for everyone involved within Suzuki Auto South Africa. It’s been an absolute privilege working with some of the rental industry’s most instrumental customers and being acknowledged for our efforts means we are doing something right. Moving ahead we will continue to apply the same ethics and strive for further improvement.”
