iCAUR V23 brings customisable electric adventure to South Africa

A compact SUV designed for versatility, personalisation and everyday practicality — with an electric twist.

  • iCAUR’s upcoming V23 is a rugged, compact electric SUV that blends retro design with modern EV technology.
  • Practical features, such as modular mounting points, make it easy to fit a wide range of accessories that support a variety of South African lifestyles.
  • Built-in customisation allows drivers to personalise their vehicles safely and easily, without relying on aftermarket modifications.

As the automotive industry continues to evolve, demand is growing for vehicles that combine distinctive design, everyday practicality and modern electric technology. The iCAUR V23, due to launch in South Africa next month, responds to this shift with a compact, pure battery-electric SUV that brings a rugged, adventurous character into the era of electrification.

The V23 is defined by proportions that reflect the core principles of retro design. With a height-to-width ratio of 0.96 and dimensions of 4,220 mm x 1,915 mm x 1,845 mm, it delivers a stable and grounded stance. Clean, straight surfaces reduce unnecessary visual complexity, allowing the boxy silhouette to remain both functional and recognisable while supporting interior space and everyday usability.

Classic design cues are carried forward in a way that feels relevant to the electric era. Round headlights preserve a familiar visual identity, while modern lighting technology adds a contemporary edge. Functional details such as exposed wipers are complemented by refined finishes that align with current design expectations.

Practicality is central to the V23’s exterior design. Straight side panels reinforce a strong, purposeful look, while high-strength aluminium side steps improve access. At the rear, an asymmetrical design incorporates an external storage compartment, echoing the look of retro spare wheel covers. Along with the clearly defined lighting elements, it balances utility with a contemporary finish. A roof rack with a load capacity of up to 200 kg supports a wide range of outdoor equipment, adding to the V23’s practicality.

The V23 will also introduce a more accessible approach to vehicle personalisation. With more than 20 factory-integrated mounting points, owners can add or replace accessories as they wish, such as the roof racks, exterior attachments, and interior mounts, without altering the vehicle’s structure. This reduces the need for specialised tools and avoids the safety concerns often associated with traditional aftermarket modification.

This modular setup allows the vehicle to adapt to different lifestyles and use cases. Optional equipment includes side ladders, auxiliary lighting and removable fender flares to accommodate all-terrain tyres. All-wheel drive variants fitted with 265/45R21 tyres are designed to provide confidence across varied road conditions. Additional mounting solutions support practical features such as camera systems and in-cabin device holders, enhancing convenience and usability.

“South African consumers expect their vehicles to adapt to a wide range of lifestyles, from city commuting to weekend exploration,” commented Shannon Gahagan, National Brand and Marketing Manager at iCAUR South Africa. “By building customisation directly into the design of the iCAUR V23, we’re giving owners the freedom to personalise their vehicle safely and easily, without the compromises of traditional aftermarket modifications. It’s a practical, flexible approach that speaks directly to how local drivers use and enjoy their vehicles.”

By integrating customisation into the vehicle from the outset, the iCAUR V23 makes personalisation more practical, more accessible, and better aligned with the needs of modern South African motorists. The result? An electric SUV that brings together rugged design and everyday functionality in a cohesive and desirable package.
